GOOGLE ANNOUNCES INVESTMENTS IN RENEWABLE ENERGIES

04 September 2019

Pichai stressed that the new contracts not only provide for the purchase of renewable energies from existing wind and solar suppliers, but also support the expansion of further projects with a long term. Through its philanthropic subsidiary Google.org, the Internet group also intends to support two renewable energy companies in the USA and Europe with a total of 100,000 euros. The money should be used to research new business models and train consumers.

According to Google, it has been operating its business CO2-neutrally since 2007. Since 2017, the Internet Group has been sourcing its entire annual electricity consumption from renewable energies. Google is the largest buyer of renewable energies in the world.
